In the clip, we see Ashanti getting ready for a show. Her crew’s buzzing around, checking if she’s set to hit the stage. Then, bam! We’re backstage, and there’s a bunch of Proov pregnancy tests laid out. Fun fact: Ashanti and Nelly have stakes in Proov. Sneaky, sneaky. A team member peeks behind the curtain, asking, “How much time you need?” Out comes Ashanti, pregnancy test in hand, dropping the mic with, “Imma need about nine months.” Classic. And then, “To be continued” flashes on a black screen. Oh, the suspense!

But wait, there’s more! Ashanti and Nelly chatted with Essence, and guess what? They’re not just expecting; they’re engaged! “This new year of my life is such a blessing full of love, hope, and anticipation,” Ashanti gushed. She’s been dreaming of motherhood, and sharing this journey with her fam, fiancé, and fans is everything to her.
Rumors of a baby started swirling around the end of last year. It all kicked off at Nelly’s Black and White Ball. On stage, both laid hands on Ashanti’s belly. A little on-the-nose, don’t you think? Finally, a source confirmed to US Weekly that Ashanti was indeed pregnant. This bundle of joy will be Ashanti’s first but makes baby number three for Nelly. He’s got two kids with his ex, Channetta Valentine, and also stepped up to adopt his sister’s kids after she passed away. Talk about a blended family!

Let’s rewind to when Ashanti and Nelly first crossed paths – a press conference at the Grammys in the early 2000s. They had a bit of a rollercoaster romance from 2003 to 2013, even collaborating on the track “Body On Me” in 2008. Fast forward to last April, and sparks were flying again. They were caught holding hands at a boxing match in Vegas. By May, Nelly confirmed on Boss Moves with Rasheeda that they were giving love another shot. “Yeah, we cool again,” he admitted, surprised at their own reunion.
