Jessa Seewald Announces She’s Expecting a Fifth Child
Jessa Seewald, formerly Duggar, well-known for her appearances in the reality show “Counting On”, is preparing to welcome a new member into her family. Alongside her spouse, Ben Seewald, Jessa has publicized the news of her forthcoming fifth child. This news brings a sense of joy and gratitude, especially as Jessa faced a miscarriage in the previous year.
Through the family’s YouTube channel, Jessa revealed her pregnancy stating, “After a heartbreaking loss last year, we’re so thankful God has blessed us with a rainbow baby!”. In addition to the news, Jessa presented evidence of a positive pregnancy test before announcing that they had recently discovered the delightful news that their rainbow baby was on its way, a development leaving them overjoyed. The pregnancy announcement was a brief part of the video, which continued by showcasing Jessa and Ben on a “romantic getaway”.
Reflecting on Past Miscarriage
The pregnancy announcement arrives roughly half a year following the couple’s disclosure of Jessa’s miscarriage. She had described the moment of finding out about the miscarriage as one of shock and sorrow, without being able to find words to express her feelings. Jessa and Ben could only hold hands and shed tears, uncertain of what was next.
In her video, Jessa further elaborated on the experience of her miscarriage, pointing out the disconcerting aspect of miscarriages being that there aren’t clear indicators of something going wrong. In Jessa’s case, she only had a slight bleed for a day, following which she had to undergo a dilation and curettage (D&C) procedure at the hospital after complications arose while trying to pass the fetus at home. She expressed her thankfulness ahead of the procedure stating, “I was able to thank God in that moment for giving us this life, even if we wouldn’t be able to hold this baby in our arms.”
Jessa and Ben have four kids already – two boys, Spurgeon and Henry, and two girls, Ivy and Fern, with Fern having been born in July 2021.
